Parti Statement -

Architecture is frozen music. The juxtaposition of historic material, form, and encompassing curve that represents funk music and culture creates a clear representation of funk’s impact on modern music.

Project Approach -

With the project site being located in Dayton, Ohio (the Funk Music Capital of the World), it is only appropriate to not only fit the theme of funk music, but to also ensure the building itself fits in with the context of the surrounding buildings. This is done though materiality, form, and placement. The main curve on the facade of the building represents funk music itself cutting though music from the past, represented by the brick below, in order to make way for the music of the future, represented by the modern black corrugated metal siding.
